3 ceramic boutiques to discover around Hôtel Fabric
Categories : Lifestyle
Between Oberkampf, Saint-Maur and the neighbouring 10th arrondissement, the area has retained its taste for craftsmanship, handmade creations and creativity. Stoneware tableware from Portugal, a workshop-shop where clay is shaped, a creative café where you can paint your own mug: three ceramic addresses to add to your stay—and your suitcase. Discover them and contact our reception team for more information!
Céladon: Portuguese stoneware tableware on Rue de Crussol
Just a few steps from the hotel, Céladon dresses the table with handcrafted stoneware tableware made in Portugal. Plates, bowls, mugs, serving dishes and oil cruets: each piece comes in deep shades, from midnight blue to terracotta, and can be mixed and matched with the others. The pieces are oven-, microwave- and dishwasher-safe: ceramics to use every day, not to store in a display cabinet.
Good to know: mix the colours and build your dinnerware set piece by piece—it is the house's signature approach.
17 Rue de Crussol, 75011. A 7-minute walk from hôtel FABRIC.
Atelier Garrigues Céramiques: stoneware, porcelain and introductory workshops in the Saint-Maur district
A little further up in the 11th arrondissement, Atelier Garrigues Céramiques combines a workshop and a shop. On the programme: hand-building, throwing, moulding and glazing, as well as one-off classes in a single session (jug, porcelain flowers, breakfast set) and an open studio for independent practice. It creates ceramic art and decorative objects, from plaster to clay, in stoneware and porcelain. The workshop also offers introductory courses: a hands-on way to understand the craft behind the piece you will take home.
Good to know: the workshop has limited opening days, so it is best to check before visiting. And of course, our reception team is here to help!
32 Rue du Général Guilhem, 75011. A 12-minute walk from hôtel FABRIC.
Studio San: everyday stoneware and a creative café on Rue d’Hauteville
Let us step out of the 11th arrondissement for a moment and head to the 10th. Studio San creates functional objects designed for everyday life, handmade in small batches, thrown or hand-built in a workshop in the Paris region. On Rue d’Hauteville, the venue takes the form of a bright workshop-shop-café, where you can take part in a ceramic painting workshop lasting around two hours, accompanied by breakfast, an afternoon snack or an aperitif. The piece is fired on site by the team.
Good to know: your piece will be ready around ten days after the workshop. If your stay is short, remember to ask for home delivery (at an extra charge).
20 Rue d’Hauteville, 75010. A 28-minute walk from hôtel FABRIC, or just a few metro stops away.
