A Day Around Père Lachaise: ideas and places to go

Categories : Lifestyle, published on : 10/22/26

The greenest space within Paris’s city limits and the most visited cemetery in the world, Père Lachaise is about fifteen minutes’ walk from Hôtel Fabric. Around its paths, the neighbourhood has plenty to fill a day. We have selected places for you to enjoy a stroll among great names and nature, a coffee, a designer boutique, a bistro lunch and an immersive exhibition.
Follow our lead and speak to our reception team for more information!

Père Lachaise: famous names and nature

With some 70,000 graves, the cemetery is the resting place of figures who left their mark on history, such as Jim Morrison, Oscar Wilde, Édith Piaf, Molière and Jean de La Fontaine. But it is also a biodiversity haven: around 4,000 trees and nearly 140 species of wild animals have made it their home.

Good to know: the cemetery is vast and its paths quickly start to look alike, so note the spots you want to visit before you go in. And if nature appeals to you, the LPO Île-de-France, which we support as part of our environmental commitment, organises a monthly “Wild fauna and flora of the cemetery” observation walk: free, no booking required, from 9am to 12pm, meeting at the main entrance with a pair of binoculars. Check the date for the month on their calendar.

Main entrance: boulevard de Ménilmontant, 75020. 15 minutes’ walk from Hôtel FABRIC.

Joy x Beck: the mint-green café on rue de la Bidassoa

On leaving via the Gambetta side, head to Joy x Beck, a mint-coloured corner café run by Joy, daughter of pastry chef Linda Lam, and her partner Beck. Here, Southeast Asian heritage takes pride of place at the counter: freshly roasted Laotian coffee and pandan pastries, such as the fruit chiffon cake sando or the laminated brioche.

Good to know: the brioches are baked in two batches a day, so it’s best to go early. Open on Sundays, closed on Mondays.

10 rue de la Bidassoa, 75020. 25 minutes’ walk from Hôtel FABRIC.

Authentique Parenthèse: a designer selection, just around the corner

A little further along the same street, Authentique Parenthèse offers a selection of designers and slow fashion for women and men: ready-to-wear, shoes, accessories and homeware, with brands such as Paraboot, Norse Projects and Universal Works.

Good to know: opening hours vary from day to day (on Wednesdays, the shop only opens from 4:30pm).

50 rue de la Bidassoa, 75020. 25 minutes’ walk from Hôtel FABRIC.

Patine Bistrot: lunch (or dinner) on rue de la Vacquerie

Head to the 11th arrondissement for Patine, the first venture of Emma Rajaud and Julien Chevallier. A bistro open Tuesday to Saturday for lunch and dinner, perfect for a break between two visits.

Good to know: book online, it’s the easiest way.

16 rue de la Vacquerie, 75011. 14 minutes’ walk from Hôtel FABRIC.

Atelier des Lumières: art immersion

End the day at the Atelier des Lumières, housed in a former 19th-century foundry. More than 140 video projectors and spatial sound bring immersive digital exhibitions to life, shown on a continuous loop with no set showtimes.

Good to know: the programme changes regularly, so check the website to see which exhibition is on.

38 rue Saint-Maur, 75011. 8 minutes’ walk from Hôtel FABRIC.
