We've been eagerly anticipating it! For the 5th edition of its illuminated walks, the National Museum of Natural History offers an exceptional immersive experience with its exhibition "Jungle in the Process of Illumination" at the Jardin des Plantes in Paris. Until January 21, 2024, right in the heart of Paris, you'll have the opportunity to immerse yourself in the fascinating world of tropical rainforests, lush and extraordinary ecosystems spread across four continents - Asia, Oceania, South America, and Africa.
Tropical rainforests are the cradle of global biodiversity, housing more than half of the known animal and plant species. "Jungle in the Process of Illumination" provides a fascinating glimpse of this richness through a lush journey. From formidable felines to astonishing frogs, giant flowers, and other wonders, the exhibition showcases characteristic, spectacular, or unusual species.
The term "jungle", of Indian origin, sparks our imagination, evoking distant lands, unexplored forests, and a blend of great beauty with numerous dangers. Although not scientific, the word “jungle” symbolizes a certain idea of wild nature, especially tropical rainforests.
These tropical rainforests are ecosystems with a warm and stable climate, conducive to an explosion of biodiversity. About two-thirds of the planet's plant and animal species thrive in these exceptionally rich environments.
After exploring endangered species (2018), oceans (2019), the evolution of life (2021), and tiny fauna (2022), the National Museum of Natural History embarks on a new journey, shedding light on the extraordinary biodiversity of tropical rainforests.
"Jungle in the Process of Illumination" is not just an exhibition; it's a true luminous fairy tale. Comprising hundreds of illuminated structures, some of which are animated, the exhibition transforms the Jardin des Plantes into an enchanted tropical forest populated by unusual animals and spectacular plants.
The exhibition offers a nocturnal, enchanting, and enlightening journey, providing a total immersion into the fauna and flora of tropical rainforests. Beyond the wonder, the exhibition also aims to raise awareness about the need to protect this unique heritage threatened by human activities.
"Jungle in the Process of Illumination" at the Jardin des Plantes offers a unique opportunity to discover the extraordinary diversity of tropical rainforests while diving into an unforgettable visual and sensory experience. A magical getaway to be enjoyed solo, with company, or with family, in the heart of the wild nature that is sure to leave a lasting impression on the minds of all visitors.
