Categories : Exhibition, published on : 3/9/25

Through a spectacular visual and sound journey, the new Atelier des Lumières exhibition dedicated to Pablo Picasso reveals the artistic evolution of the master of Cubism and modern art.

A Journey Through Picasso’s Major Works

As always, at the Atelier des Lumières, Picasso’s work comes to life in large format on the walls and floors of this unique and surprising art center. You will be able to admire iconic masterpieces such as Les Demoiselles d’Avignon, a foundational painting of Analytical Cubism, or Guernica, the world-renowned painting denouncing the Spanish Civil War. His Blue and Rose periods reveal poetic and expressive works, while his self-portraits, engravings, and Cubist sculptures illustrate his relentless artistic pursuit.

This modern art exhibition also highlights Picasso’s influences, from Impressionism with Van Gogh, Manet, and Cézanne to Surrealism and Abstraction with Dora Maar, Cocteau, Calder, and Giacometti. African art also plays a crucial role in his work, inspiring his exploration of geometric forms and tribal masks. The exhibition also explores his collaborations with the Ballets Russes and the world of theater, influencing his work on costumes and stage design.

Picasso and Paris: An Unbreakable Bond with Modern Art

The Picasso exhibition traces his history with Paris, from Montmartre to the Bateau-Lavoir, passing through the Musée National Picasso and the Centre Pompidou. This temporary exhibition complements those of the Musée d’Orsay, the Grand Palais, and the Louvre, key landmarks of modern and contemporary art.

Visitors will also have the opportunity to discover the artist’s ceramics and collages, reflecting his innovative spirit, as well as lesser-known still lifes and abstract paintings. His impact on contemporary artists and Surrealism is also highlighted.

A Unique Immersive Experience: Art and Technology Combined

The Atelier des Lumières, renowned for its monumental exhibitions, offers a complete immersion into Picasso’s pictorial universe. With an advanced sound system and video projectors, the temporary exhibition transforms his paintings into a true visual spectacle.
