European Heritage Days 2026 in Paris

The 2026 European Heritage Days will take place this year on September 18, 19, and 20 in Paris. A true cultural highlight, this event offers unique visits, exceptional openings, and original activities to explore the exceptional richness of the capital's heritage.

A weekend to rediscover Paris

Every year, the event invites visitors to step through the doors of places usually closed to the public. Churches, artisan workshops, historic buildings, and private residences are revealed over the weekend. Guided tours, thematic circuits, and activities help visitors understand the history and architectural diversity of the city. Friday, September 18 is reserved for schoolchildren, as part of the "Look Up!" initiative.

The 2026 themes: photography and heritage at risk

For its 43rd edition, two threads run through the programme. The national theme, "Heritage of Photography", marks the bicentenary of the invention of photography by Nicéphore Niépce. The European theme, "Heritage at Risk: Reviving, Resisting, Reimagining", turns the spotlight on sites threatened by time, climate change, or the disappearance of traditional skills. Together, they offer two complementary ways to discover the richness and variety of Parisian heritage, from classical to contemporary.

Activities for all audiences!

The Heritage Days are not limited to building visits: concerts, musical walks, demonstrations of traditional skills, and theatrical performances enliven the weekend. Young people can also take part in the "Look Up!" initiative, a series of meetings with heritage professionals to discover traditional trades and techniques. The vast majority of openings are free, including at monuments that are usually paying.
